Karoline Pietrowski

You can instantly recognize Karoline Pietrowski’s illustrations by their bright and vibrant colors and the soft, rounded lines she consistently uses. Her signature is the characters she brings to life: they usually have expressive big eyes, rich expressions, and diverse poses, as if they’re about to jump out of the frame and embark on their own adventures. From quirky children to unique teenagers, every character is full of personality and vitality.

Pietrowski, from Duisburg, Germany, is a freelance illustrator and character designer. ”Ever since I was a child, I loved bringing my ideas and little stories to life on paper, and today, I’m lucky to do exactly that for a living.”

Pietrowski majored in communication design at university, specializing in illustration and editorial design. She is passionate about combining narrative images with text layouts. She particularly enjoys exploring how images are laid out in books. She took on freelance projects when she was still at university and shared her work on Instagram, gradually building her own creative community, which in turn attracted the attention of publishers, agencies, and brands.

Currently, Pietrowski’s clients span various fields, including well-known companies such as Adobe, Ubisoft, Wacom, and XboxDACH. Her work is widely applied, covering children’s book illustrations, magazine design, and toy and game image development. Particularly in creative projects aimed at the children and family market, she shows a high degree of creative interest, from vivid book cover designs and engaging character settings to interactive applications and game development, all showcasing her unique visual language.
