Home’s Embrace

This is my personal reflection on the theme “Stories of Home.”

This illustration captures a feeling I miss deeply — the quiet comfort of being surrounded by those who love you.

For me, home lives in warm hugs, shared emotions, and voices I’ve known for most of my life.

It’s a love that embraces you from the inside.

It’s been two years since I had to leave Ukraine because of the war. The feeling of homesickness never truly fades — it only shifts, becoming louder or quieter depending on the day.

Creating this piece was my way of holding on to those memories — and to all the love still waiting across the distance.

About the illustrator

I’m Daria Lada, a Ukrainian illustrator based in Canada. My illustrations combine vibrant color, rich texture, and storytelling to create emotionally engaging visuals. Over the past five years, I’ve worked with creative agencies, tech companies, and editorial teams on diverse projects—ranging from branding and character design to mobile apps and print. My style is influenced by Art Deco, nature, travels and everyday life reimagined with boldness and warmth. I aim to craft artwork that not only stands out visually but also communicates meaning with clarity and charm. I’m always excited to collaborate on projects that invite both creativity and connection.
